Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to design, build, and optimize modern digital experiences that serve a global audience. This role combines deep full stack engineering expertise with emerging AI-driven software development practices, enabling teams to accelerate innovation through AI-augmented engineering, intelligent automation, and generative AI solutions.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled software engineer who can lead technical initiatives, influence architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and leverage modern AI platforms and developer tools to deliver scalable, secure, and performant customer experiences. 

This position works across product, marketing, data, and platform teams to build and evolve customer-facing applications powered by modern web technologies, content platforms, search experiences, and AI-enabled capabilities. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Software Engineering & Architecture: 

• Develop and optimize user-centered web experiences and contribute to the evolution of the Sanity CMS platform, including content modeling, integrations, and authoring workflows. 

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain highly scalable web applications and digital experiences. 

• Lead the technical design and implementation of complex features and platform capabilities. 

• Drive architecture decisions focused on reliability, performance, maintainability, security, and scalability. 

• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through deployment and operational excellence. 

• Implement modern cloud-native and headless architecture patterns. 

• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, testing strategies, and CI/CD processes. 

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems. 

AI-Augmented Software Development: 

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery velocity. 

• Utilize Generative AI coding assistants and enterprise AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle. 

• Integrate AI-enabled workflows into development, testing, documentation, code reviews, and operational processes. 

• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption strategies that create measurable business value. 

• Champion engineering best practices for responsible AI usage, governance, security, and compliance. 

Generative AI Agent Development: 

• Design and develop AI-powered applications, assistants, and autonomous agents that improve customer and business experiences. 

• Build integrations with enterprise AI platforms and large language models. 

• Develop workflows involving prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), orchestration frameworks, and AI agents. 

• Implement observability, evaluation, and performance optimization strategies for AI applications. 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business processes that can be enhanced through AI-driven automation. 

Technical Leadership:

• Serve as a technical leader for cross-functional initiatives. 

• Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, and knowledge sharing. 

• Influence engineering strategy, platform modernization efforts, and technology roadmaps. 

• Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, Marketing teams, Data teams, and other engineering organizations to deliver high-impact solutions. 

• Drive continuous improvement across development practices, operational excellence, and engineering culture. 

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering production software solutions. 

• Experience with AI-Augmented Software Development practices and tools. 

• Experience designing and deploying Generative AI applications, copilots, assistants, or agents. 

• Experience building UX-focused web applications and working with headless CMS platforms, preferably Sanity. 

• Strong expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript development. 

• Experience building modern applications using:  

• Next.js 

• React 

• Tailwind CSS 

• HTML/CSS 

• Experience with GitLab-based source control and CI/CD pipelines. 

• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and distributed services. 

• Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and system design. 

• Experience working within Agile software development methodologies. 

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, architecture decisions, and project status to both technical and non-technical audiences.
