Job description

About Perry Weather

Perry Weather is the weather safety standard for organizations that operate outdoors. We combine on-site weather hardware with a software platform that automates alerts, siren activations, and safety decisions for more than 3,000 organizations — from the PGA of America, the NFL, and MLB to Turner Construction, thousands of school districts, cities, and golf courses. We've grown 80%+ annually for five consecutive years, and are continuing to grow.

We're headquartered in Dallas at The Centrum, in the Oak Lawn neighborhood, where our teams work together every day to help organizations make faster and safer decisions when weather puts people, assets, and operations at risk.

About the Role

As a Hardware Technician, you will play an instrumental role in Perry Weather's growth. You're often the first in-person impression of Perry Weather for new customers. Your day-to-day will be a mix of assembling our proprietary hardware, traveling around the country to install our hardware at schools, golf courses, athletics facilities, parks, and other locations, and servicing our fleet of hardware units as needed.

We are the modern weather safety platform – software and hardware that work seamlessly together to protect thousands of people every day. We have two primary types of hardware:

  • Outdoor Warning Systems are mounted to be visible and audible to the nearby area, with a strobe light and speakers for a siren and text-to-speech messaging.

  • Weather Stations are typically mounted alongside our Outdoor Warning Systems and provide our customers with real-time, site-specific weather conditions and camera imagery.

You don't need to know anything about the weather or our hardware to join our team as a Hardware Technician I. We'll teach you everything you need to know!

Responsibilities

  • Install and service our hardware units at a variety of locations around the country. We'll fly you to those locations, and generally you'll spend about 2-4 nights (M-Th) away each week. This will be about 85% of your role.

  • Assist our manufacturing team and assemble our proprietary hardware in our office located in the Design District area of Dallas. While we don't require electrical or engineering experience, we do expect that you learn quickly and understand key concepts as we teach you what you need to know. This will be about 15% of your role.

  • Use hand, power, and electrical tools as you assemble/install hardware units.

  • Work outside at height on rooftops and in lifts in most weather conditions for extended periods; climb ladders up to 50ft and repetitively lift/carry/hoist heavy equipment.

  • Create the first in-person impression of Perry Weather for new customers as you install their hardware units – communicate clearly with their on-site contact, answer questions, and show them how their new hardware works in conjunction with our software platform.

  • Keep tools and equipment in good working order at all times. Tools are provided.

  • Follow documented procedures and Perry Weather’s quality standards

  • Maintain a safety-first mindset at all times, following company and site-specific safety protocols

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction and troubleshoot without supervision

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively 2-4 nights a week

  • Clean driving record, ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to climb - you will often be climbing ladders onto rooftops and using aerial lifts to install at 50+ feet

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + overtime pay.

  • You'll want to come into the office. Our Oak Lawn office isn't just a place to sit — it's where ideas move fast and culture stays strong. The whole team is here Monday through Friday, which means real collaboration, no chasing people down over Slack, and a genuinely fun place to spend your work days.

  • Your wellbeing is covered. Competitive health insurance, 401(k) with employer matching, and a full suite of voluntary benefits, because you shouldn't have to think twice about the basics.

  • Good people, good times. Monthly All-Hands, Office Olympics, happy hours, and more. We take the work seriously and the culture seriously too.

  • You're getting in early, and that matters. We're growing fast, but the biggest opportunities are still ahead. The people joining now will help shape what Perry Weather becomes.
