Job description

About LUMILENS

At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing - faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.

We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. At Lumilens, we’re developing high-speed photonics products purpose-built to power the future of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.

This isn’t incremental innovation, it’s a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in scaling optical systems. If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Planning Manager to lead material and supply planning for new product introductions, from prototype through pilot and design qualification. This role is to translate engineering build plans into material requirements, ensuring BOM and component readiness, and identifying supply risks early so that development builds are as per planned schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Material & Supply Planning

  • Translate engineering build plans and forecasts into material requirements and procurement plans for prototype and pilot builds.

  • Partner with engineering to ensure BOM readiness and component sourcing ahead of each build milestone.

  • Identify long-lead components and supply risks early in the development cycle.

  • Track procurement of manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment needed for each building phase.

  • Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, and material consumption/wastage across development builds.

Build Support & Coordination

  • Ensure material availability aligns with prototype and pilot build schedules at CM partners.

  • Support engineering change management by updating material plans in line with design revisions.

  • Support a smooth handoff of material plans from development into production planning.

Risk Management

  • Maintain visibility of critical-path components and long-lead items.

  • Flag potential material shortages, supply disruptions, or single-source risks to program and engineering leadership.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track planning metrics: forecast accuracy, BOM completeness, and on-time material availability for development builds.

  • Provide regular supply readiness updates to cross-functional leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, material planning, or MRP execution, ideally in electronics, semiconductor, or hardware manufacturing.

  • Proven track record managing material and supply plans across multiple sites/regions coordinating with suppliers and contract manufacturing (CM) partners to keep build schedules on track.

  • Hands-on experience with an ERP/MRP system (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and strong Excel/data skills.

  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and cross-functional stakeholder management skill

  • Experience with inventory optimization is a strong plus.
