About Us
At Pickle Robot, we're on a mission to automate global supply chains with Physical AI. Our robots work alongside warehouse teams to unload trucks and containers — one of the toughest, most understaffed jobs in logistics — making the work safer, faster, and more efficient for the people doing it. Loading trucks comes next, followed by the Dill Autonomy Engine: generalized autonomy that will eventually orchestrate robots across entire logistics processes.
We're looking for a seasoned Software Engineering Manager, Motion Planning, to lead and grow our motion planning team, building the algorithms that let our robotic arms manipulate and unload packages quickly and safely at scale. You'll drive motion planning innovation from concept to production in fast-paced, real-world logistics environments, with a strong focus on team mentorship and development.
What You’ll Do
Mentor, manage, and grow a team of motion planning software engineers, setting technical vision and owning the team's output and success as the company scales
Foster technical and professional development through code reviews, coaching, and regular 1:1s
Work with product management and engineering leadership to align engineering direction with the product roadmap
Ensure robust, safe, and high-performing behaviors both in simulation and on real robots
Participate in design reviews, algorithm development, and deep-dive troubleshooting of critical issues
What You'll Bring
5+ years of experience in robotics software development, with at least 2 years in a people management role
Knowledge of motion planning and controls techniques for robotic manipulators and AMRs (e.g., RRT, MPC, trajectory optimization) is a plus
Proficient in C++ and Python, with experience using ROS or other robotic frameworks
Familiarity with simulation tools (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, etc.) strongly preferred
Excellent mentor and communicator, adept at cross-functional collaboration
Curious and adaptable, with a passion for staying ahead of robotics research and leading real-world innovation
Willing and able to work from our Charlestown, MA office at least three times per week
