Job description

Who We Are:

Chestnut Carbon is a leading developer of nature-based carbon removal solutions, focused on generating high-quality, U.S.-based forest carbon projects that are additional, verifiable, and designed to accelerate the path to net zero. Founded in 2022 with the support of energy-focused alternative asset manager Kimmeridge, Chestnut uses a proprietary, technology-enabled approach to restore and conserve forestland—maximizing ecological value and long-term climate impact.

To date, Chestnut has planted over 17 million trees across 30,000 acres and enrolled more than 175,000 acres of privately owned forestland in its improved forest management program. Our projects deliver measurable environmental benefits, including enhanced air and water quality, biodiversity, and wildlife habitat.

Chestnut was named one of TIME Magazine’s Top GreenTech Companies of 2025 and received both the FSC President’s Award and the distinction of being the first U.S. project verified through FSC’s Verified Impact program for Biodiversity Conservation.

Chestnut was founded and backed by Kimmeridge, a US-based private equity firm with offices in New York and Denver.

Position Summary:

Forest Carbon Works, a subsidiary of Chestnut Carbon, offers private US forest landowners conservation programs that help them access carbon credit markets while preserving their land and legacy. As the Membership Coordinator of a nature-based solutions company committed to developing high-quality voluntary carbon offset projects, this person will support landowner members from enrollment through ongoing program participation, providing day-to-day administrative, communications, agreement, CRM, reporting, and payment support. The position reports to the Membership Manager and works closely with Membership Advisors, Finance, Legal, Forestry, GIS, and other internal teams to ensure the highest standards are met.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and customer service skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records in a remote environment.

Responsibilities
  • Guide members from signed agreement through ongoing participation, coordinating onboarding with Finance, Legal, and Natural Resources.
  • Manage member lifecycle events: annual surveys, ownership changes, land transfers, easement reviews, amendments, and terminations.
  • Maintain accurate member records and documentation in Salesforce and SharePoint.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for routine member questions, escalating complex matters to the Membership Manager.
  • Send scheduled communications, reminders, program updates, and surveys, and track participation and follow-up.
  • Prepare amendment packages from approved templates and route them for review and signature.
  • Review documentation for completeness and record amended terms in the CRM and designated repositories.
  • Support deed, entity document, easement, and payee-change reviews, escalating compliance questions as needed.
  • Run standard CRM and payment reports, audit data, and correct discrepancies.
  • Prepare payment calculations and requests, track approvals and status, and record issuance in the CRM.
  • Partner with Finance on payment processing, reconciliation, and routine member payment questions.
  • Coordinate with Forestry, GIS, Product, Lease/Due Diligence, MRV, and Legal on member requests and audits, and document standard operating procedures.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience of 3+ years in account management, customer support, or membership administration.
  • Experience with a CRM platform such as Salesforce or HubSpot; Ironclad, email marketing automation, or payment operations a plus.
  • Experience administering agreements, including reviewing contracts, drafting amendments, and maintaining compliance records (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, including both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as a high-level attention to detail.
  • Strong time-management and self-management skills and can take direction and work independently to reach identified goals on a set timeline.
  • Can maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive project deliverables.
  • Experience with MS Office; and familiarity with spreadsheets and SharePoint.
  • Have a commitment to solving the environmental challenges of our time.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (limited).
  • Able to work effectively with remote team members throughout the U.S.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Standing and Walking: Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Repetitive Movements: Ability to perform repetitive movements, such as typing and using a mouse.
  • Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer screen and reading documents.
