Job description

At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do. As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist I to join the Product Development team supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing product development efforts. This role is hands-on in the lab, with a strong emphasis on supporting verification and validation (V&V) studies, QC method development, and troubleshooting activities by executing experiments and generating high-quality data.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute V&V studies (e.g., precision, sensitivity, linearity, stability) following established protocols
  • Support development, optimization, and validation of QC methods used across raw material, in-process, and finished goods testing
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges via root-cause analysis and implement corrective strategies
  • Generate, document, and critically analyze experimental data, applying sound statistical practices to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and traceability
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records and experimental documentation in compliance with quality system requirements
  • Support product and process transfer activities from R&D to Manufacturing, including execution of transfer protocols and preparation of supporting documentation
  • Assist in authoring and revising SOPs, work instructions, and validation protocols/reports
  • Support execution of experiments for new product introduction (NPI), including prototype and process evaluation activities
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate completion of deliverables
  • Maintain lab equipment, inventory, and consumables, and ensure ongoing compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related field with 1+ years of relevant industry experience, or M.S. in a related field
  • Hands-on experience executing laboratory experiments in a biotech or life sciences setting
  • Experience with basic assay techniques such as immunoassays or molecular biology methods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform routine laboratory tasks with consistency and accuracy to generate high-quality, reproducible data
  • Ability to independently execute established protocols and experiments, exercising sound technical judgment and escalating novel issues appropriately
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation skills, with attention to experimental details, observations, deviations, and results
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
